Ashlyn's Pay It Forward

Part 1
Pay it forward is to me is a smart idea because even though you think 3 people are being helped, and that's not a lot, but once it spreads you think wow, I didn't realise how many people were affected.
Part 2
My pay it forward was collecting a lot of non - perishable food items (I think it was like 44) that was donated to the Winnipeg Food
Harvest. I chose this activity because many people do die of diseases from an inadequate supply of food like severe malnourishment and scurvy. So I chose to help out those who can't eat every day like I can. What I did to help others out is I went door to door asking for donations and I collected quite a bit. My mom helped me carry all the food and give me moral support. I did my good deed on Halloween 2012, while my sister went trick or treating.

Part 3
My turn out was pretty good. Some people ran out of non - perishable food items by the time I came knocking and some people just said no, but I got quite a bit of goods. They also ended sneaking some candy in my bag, but unfortunately, that was not able to be donated. I felt pretty proud of how much I was able to collect, but the next day, I felt miserable because I carried all of it myself and there was a lot of heavy cans in there. The people whom I asked were a little confused, like they were thinking, "What? This person doesn't want candy? Do I have non - perishable food items? I hope I
do, so I can look like a good person." I told those who gave me food
that some other students may also request non - perishable food items so don't be surprised. Most people thought for a moment to make sure they did have something to give or felt weirded out like why would someone go for a request like that instead of candy.

Part 4
The idea of pay it forward is important is that you help others and they each help others and it spreads (a form of diffusion, if anyone noticed) and everyone is aided. My act of kindness will help plenty of people feed on something instead of becoming malnourished or anything like that.

Luis' Pay it Forward

Part One
Pay it Forward is a movement that started with one act of kindness. This act of kindness has then led to another act and so forth. In the movie it shows a child wanting to create a difference in the world but had to overcome difficulties. He eventually overcomes these challenges and succeeds in changing his community and other parts of the world.

Part Two
My Pay it Forward act of Kindness was donating a book to the Christmas Cheer Board during the 12 days of Sargent Park Christmas. I chose this activity because it would benefit other less fortunate people by donating this book.

Part Three
My act of kindness went well considering it was just one book. I do not know ho the person who received the book felt since I put it in the bin in the classroom. I did not ask the person to pay it forward since I did not give it to them personally.

Part Four
The idea of Pay it Forward is important because a simple act leads to another, causing this chain reaction. Another reason why this is important is because it helps less fortunate people in need. My act of kindness made a difference to the person receiving it since they probably can't afford it themselves.

They just said "oh" or "okay", and a few asked questions.

Leif's Pay it Forward

Part 1
Pay it forward is the act of helping others for nothing in return and if they ask "How can I repay you?", tell them to pay it forward.

Part 2
For pay it forward I did two acts of kindness, The first one I donated some old childhood toys to the  Canadian mental Heath Agency new family room which had little to no toys before, some also went to a single parent family with 4 kids through Child+family services that are facing financial challenges. My second act was volunteering at Winnipeg Harvest, at Winnipeg harvest they have over 200 volunteers a day with over 80 food banks and soup kitchens over Winnipeg, and it turns out a food shortage could happen to almost anyone. My first job there was to load break into small containers and loaded them on to pallets in the storage area, after that was finished we started to fill out orders which required a certain amount of food items per pallets. After the order was loaded onto the pallet it was then wrapped and ready to be transported to the location, or it was dropped off at the loading area for pick up. I choose the first one cause my aunt worked at the Heath agency and she knew they needed toys, the second one was chosen due to it location near our house and that they had an orienteering course on the next day.

Part 3
How did your act of kindness go?
It went pretty well and it was also pretty fun volunteering at Winnipeg harvest, I met some nice people there.
What Happened?
I worked for about 3 hours at Winnipeg harvest filling out orders.
How did you feel?
I felt great after I volunteered at Harvest it felt great knowing that I was helping those who couldn't afford their own food.

How did the person or people react?
They were thankful for us donating those toys and helping out harvest too.

If you did not ask the person to "Pay It Forward" how come?
I guess I kind of forgot, but everyone at Winnipeg harvest were all volunteers and no one asked for anything there they were just happy to help others.

Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?
Because if all of us do something nice for each other this world could become a better place.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
My act of kindness may have been small but it sure made a difference to those at the Canadian mental Heath Agency who now have toys for their new family room, and at harvest I made a difference when those orders went out to places that needed them.
