Vina's Pay It Forward

PART 1.

What is "Pay it forward"?

Pay it forward is when people help other people without paying each other back. Instead of paying back the person who helped you, you can help other people, who can help even more people. For instance, I could help 3 people with different things. Instead of paying me back, each person I helped could help 3 more people, and it would go on and on.

PART 2.

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?   I went to The Children's Hospital with a few friends to give goodie bags to some of the children.

Why did you choose this activity?   I chose this activity to help children be happier. It does get sad and boring when you have to stay in a hospital. Hopefully the kids who received the goodies feel happy and like it.

When did you do your act of kindness?   I did the act of kindness on Friday, November 30, 2012. (At around 4:30 pm)

Who did you help?   I helped sick children who stay at the Children's Hospital.

PART 3.

How did your act of kindness go?   My act of kindness was wonderful. It was very fun!

What happened?   We brought the goodies to the hospital. We couldn't bring the goodies directly to the kids for privacy reasons. We gave it to the nurses to bring to give to the children.

How did you feel?   I felt really happy and proud that we all made an attempt to help the children feel better.

How did the person or people react?   We didn't get the chance to see the children's faces, but the nurses looked surprised and delighted that we brought goodies for the children.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?   I didn't get the chance to ask them. We weren't allowed to see the children at the time.

PART 4.

Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?   I think it's important because instead of just helping yourself, you get the chance to help others around you. I like how everyone can pay it forward, no matter where they are, or what they're doing.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?   I think that my act of kindness made a little difference by helping the children at the hospital. I would like to try and make more differences not just in communities but in the world.

Rina's Pay It Forward

PART 1:

What is "Pay It Forward"?

What "Pay It Forward" means is passing on something good to someone else instead of that one person trying to pay back. Instead of trying to pay back someone who did good things or gave something good, you do something good to someone else which means "pay it forward". An example could be like if I did something nice to 3 people, those 3 people will do something nice to another 3... and so on. Sometimes little things can be a better solution to big things. We don't have to try to change the whole world, but we can try to do at least little things to make better changes. It's better to help out at least a little like probably shoveling someones sidewalk to free, babysitting for free, give goodies to hospitals and other good stuff. Differences can also change a person's mood. If we all just give in and did something to help anybody or anything, you must try so we can make a difference in this world we are living in. Anyone can do it. It isn't hard. Don't pay back, pay it forward.

PART 2:

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
The act of kindness I did was I went to the Children's Hospital to give goodies with a group of friends. You see it isn't a lot, but it will feel a lot to the kids we have given.

Why did you choose this activity?
I chose this activity because I felt really bad for kids in the hospital who are sick and won't get to experience school or anything in the outside world besides being in the hospital so I thought I could give pencils for kids to write and stickers and candy.

Who did you help?
I helped little kids in the hospital because there are kids my age or younger who can't experience things I have or can experience.

What did you do?
I gave goodies with pencils, stickers, and candies to little children because I know they would enjoy them since they are still very young.

When did you do your act of kindness?
I did my act of kindness after school on Friday, November 30th, 2012.

PART 3:

How did your act of kindness go?
My act of kindness went very well. It made me feel very happy and it made me feel like a better person doing something nice for many more people.

What happened?
When we got to the hospital, we gave our bag of goodies to the nurses to give to the little kids because we weren't allowed to go in the rooms.

How did you feel?
I felt amazing. I felt glorious, I felt happy inside. I felt really joyful for what I did because it really made me feel like a better person just doing something nice to others that will be happy too.

How did the people or person react?
I didn't get to actually see the kids personally to give the goodies because we were not allowed to go in the rooms. But I am pretty positive that they would be happy for what we gave and what we have done for them.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"? How did they react to your request? If you did not ask the person to "Pay It Forward" how come?
Sadly, I haven't. I felt bad for not asking them due to the fact we were not allowed to personally see the sick kids. The nurses did not allow us due to personal and private issues.

PART 4:

Why is the idea "Pay It Forward" important?
The idea of Pay It Forward is important because we have to know how it feels to not have what you would normally own. It's nice to give someone or do something nice to a person for them to do it again to another.

Has your act of kindness made a difference?
My act of kindness did make a little difference because it probably made the children very surprised and happy.

I'd like to end this by saying, we should all do something good to someone else for them to pass on just as "Pay It Forward". Once you do this, you'll realize that it feels good and touching to do at least something to help another. Give a little pat on your shoulder for feeling great about. All of you are very kind people. So you must "Pay It Forward". Thank you.

Stephanie's Pay it Forward

Part 1: What is "Pay it Forward?" Well, what I think Pay it Forward is, is people helping people without paying back. Its like one person helping one person, and that one person helps another person. And just like that we can help our world. It's like when you see people on the side of the road with a sign asking for food. Instead of just ignoring them, we can give them food, and they won't have to pay back. I also think of Pay it forward, as "deeds". Deeds are like helping people do things that they can't do on their own, without paying back. You don't need to do good things for people just for money. If you really think about Pay it Forward, you're not just doing it for yourself, you're doing it to help the world. Part 2: What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness? Why did you choose this activity? Who did you help? What did you do? When did you do you act of kindness? I went to the Children's Hospital with my friends to give goody bags to sick kids. I chose this activity, because I thought that the kids would be so happy. And they would probably smile, and feel very special. I helped sick kids at the Children's Hospital feel happy and special. I wrapped candy, pencils and stickers in wrapping paper. I did my act of kindness on November 30th, 2012 *This is my friends and I at the Children's Hospital with the goody bags for the kids*
*They wouldn't let us take pictures with the kids, but the nurses let us take pictures of them holding the goody bags*
Part 3: How did your act of kindness go? What Happened? How did you feel? How did the person or people react? Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"? How did they react to your request? If you did not ask the person to "Pay It Forward" how come? I think that my act of kindness went great. I didn't exactly have enough candy for every kid. I felt sad, because it wasn't equal enough for each kid. So I didn't have enough candy. I felt so great giving the nurses the goody bags to give to the kids, I felt like I'm doing a great thing. When I told the nurse about the whole thing about Pay it Forward, just the look on her face looked like we were doing the right thing. I couldn't tell the kids, because I couldn't see them. I think they won't do it, because they don't have the time, and they probably think it costs too much. I do wish that I did tell the person that it doesn't cost anything to do Pay it Forward, it just takes time. Part 4: Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important? Has your act of kindness made a difference? I think that Pay it Forward is important, because it only takes two minutes to make a difference. And for those two minutes you can really make a change. And when you do Pay it Forward, that one person you help, will help another person and then another. By then the whole world will look at us differently. I think that my act of kindness made a difference, because those people that I helped can help another person than another.

Alyssa's Pay It Forward

Part 1
What is "Pay it Forward"

What I think "Pay It Forward" is, is helping others without getting anything money or something back in return, "Pay It Forward" will start off small but it will end up big if people help others out eg.One person helps 3 people and thoughs 3 people and thoughs 3 people help out other three people etc... We don't always have to do something nice for someone for money, you can always be nice without getting money. The smallest things we do make the biggest difference. Like when we saw on the news that this bus driver gave her shoes to a homeless person, even though she did something small it effected some people, after seeing that news I wanted to help others out and I hope I'm not the only one who thinks that after seeing that news.

Part 2
What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?
Why did you choose this activity?
Who did you help?
What did you do?
When did you do your act of kindness?

I went to Siloam Mission with my friend to hand out snacks to homeless people.
I choose this activity because I thought it would be nice to help people that have no homes and food, and making these people smile made me smile. It's sad to see that people just walk past these kind of people while me and my friend went to there "home" and gave them snacks. It took us only a second to make these people happy, so people should take some of there extra time to help out others, helping others isn't hard.
I helped out homeless people who went to Siloam Mission.
I handed out the food/snacks I bought from the store to the homeless people.
I did my act of Kindness today which is November 26, 2012

*These are some of the things I gave to Siloam Misssion*
Even though it was only a little things a gave, it still was better than nothing.
*The people didn't let us take pictures of the people so I took a picture of the sign*

Part 3
How did your act of kindness go?
What Happened?
How did you feel?
How did the person or people react?
Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?
How did they react to your request?
If you did not ask the person to "Pay It Forward" how come?

I think my act of kindness went well.
I didn't have enough food to give out so I felt bad for the people who didn't get any, but I saw some sharing to others, that's what I like to see "Sharing is Caring ".
They looked so Happy, seeing them happy made me happy.
I did tell some to "Pay It Forward" there were to many people I couldn't tell them to pay it forward.
They said okay. But I know some won't do it because they think act of kindness has to deal with money like for example: buy people things. I could've told them they didn't need money to do Pay It Forward.

Part 4
Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?
Has your act of kindness made a difference?

I think why "Pay It Forward" is important is to make the World/People see that the smallest thing we do make the biggest difference. It will also show that helping others is a good thing, because other people just think about themselves all the time and they never think about others, some people are selfish.

I think my act of kindness can make a change. If the people I helped, helped other people it would make a change. If my kindness effects them for me doing the "Pay It Forward" it would make me and other people happy. Even though they are homeless they could still do "Pay It Forward" they could help an old woman with her grocery bags, Shovel snow etc... People should treat homeless people the same way as us, they've made a mistake in life were humans nobody is perfect.

How did the person or people react?
Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?
How did they react to your request?
If you did not ask the person to "Pay It Forward" how come?

Tommy's Integers Post

3 questions.

I will answer 3 questions with 1 different way for each.

Way 1. A number line.
1. (-6) + (+8)
Way 2. You can use words/money to help you.
2. (-8) + (+7)

Way 3. You can use circles. There are 2 different circles, a shaded one, and a non-shaded one. The shaded ones are positive, and the non-shaded ones are negative.
3. (-7) + (+9)

Hope these tips taught you how to add positive and negative integers.

Here is a video that may help you with

Abhi's Scribe post

I hope you guys understand this and hope its not blurry. Goodnight. Sweet dreams(:

Jessica's Interger Post

Hello <3
My Scribepost
Hope You Enjoy It <3

So what I'm going to show you first is

(+7) + (-1)

So In This Picture It Shows You The Number Line...
The Number Line Is 1 of 3 ways to find the answer...
The Number line is one of the probably the hardest ways to do it, if your like most people.. Some people are different..

Money
Money is probably the simplest for most people because most of us use money everyday
Have         Owe
   7                1

If you have 7 and you owe 1 you have 6 dollars...
If you have more than you owe then you will have a positive number
but if you owe more then you have it will be a negative number..
The Next Question I'll Be Doing Is

(-7) + (+8)

This Is The
Number Line...

Money

So You Have More Than You Owe To Your Answer Will Me A Possitive Number

Have     Owe
  8            7

Now Question #3

The Question is (-2) + (-2)
Number Line

Money

Have    Owe
    0          4

So you have more than you owe which means... that your answer will be a negitive number.. ,3

Thank you please leave your comments behind to help meeee (:

Soklang's Integer post

there are three ways you can add integers. 1.you can use dots or circles
2.you can use the number line (this is the best way in my opinion)
3.you can use words (or use money in a way)

Ashlyn's Scribepost for November 28

Scribepost a la 28 de November
Yay!!!! Finally I can do this again!!
I will do all three ways for each of the questions I will be doing for the scribepost so you can check for which ever way you have decided to write this out.
Here are my examples from the first column:
Question 1:
(-9) + (+6) = (-3)
1. The first way to do this is integer chips. The positives are represented as "dots" while the negatives are "circles"

This is a positive integer chip:

This is a negative integer chip:

First, we start with a negative 9 because that is what we started with, then we show we have 6. Then we show our final sum of negative 3.

This model shows we have 9 negative chips and we have 6 positive chips. The box contains 6 of the negatives we originally had and the 6 positives we have. These are called zero pairs. A zero pair is a negative integer and a positive integer making a sum of 0. They cancel each other out in value. It shows we have (-3) left over.

2. Another way is to use a number line, a scale model to represent what you have and what you end up with.

This model shows that we start at zero (we ALWAYS start at zero, mathematical rule) we have negative 9. Then we show we add positive 6 and there are negative 3 left over.

3. The last way to show this, in a way most of us would understand, in using money. When we have a negative amount of integers, we say we owe. When we have a positive amount of integers, we say we have.

We owe 9 dollars and we have 6 dollars. I now owe 3 dollars.

This model appears easier for some people to understand because everyone uses money. Everyone understands owing an amount or having an amount and then either owing or having more or less.

Question 2:
(+5) + (-7) = (-2)
1. We use the same three methods described above, except we use different - valued integers.
2. The number line

3. The money technique

I have 5 dollars and I owe 7 dollars. I now owe 2 dollars.

Question 3:
(-4) + (+6) = (+2)

1. Integer chips

2. Number Line

3. Money

I owe 4 dollars and I have 6 dollars. I now have 2 dollars.

Thank you for reading this and I hope to read your comments so I can improve my work.

Camille's Fraction Test Corrections

Camille's Fraction Corrections

Vina's Fraction Test Corrections

Here are my fraction test corrections.

Q: In computer technology, a bit is 1/8 of a byte. How many bits equal 16 bytes?

The correct answer is 128 bits, because it is actually 16 divided by 1/8. I made a mistake on this question because I multiplied instead of dividing.

Q: Tamar had 1/2 of an apple pie in her refrigerator. She ate 1/4 of this piece of pie. What fraction of a whole pie did she eat?

The correct answer is 1/8, because 1/2 multiplied by 1/4 is 1/8. My mistake was that, I divided instead of multiplying.
